UVEI invites all educators to join us for two online conversations on current topics of interest to educators in the region and beyond. Both events are free and will take place on Zoom. Each event will consist of a whole group convening followed by small group discussions.

Classrooms and Climate Justice

Tuesday, April 16th, 4:30-6:00 pm, Register Here

UVEI is inviting members of our community and broader network to join us for an online networking discussion about the challenges and opportunities related to teaching about climate change and climate justice.  Do you have questions or knowledge to share?  Do you want to know more about climate change and the concept of a “just transition” that prioritizes the needs and rights of vulnerable communities?  Do you have a resource or project or success story to offer?  Do you have a challenge you’d like to discuss with like-minded educators?  This event will bring together educators from our region, UVEI faculty and members of Regeneration Corps, a local climate justice collective working in regional schools.

Race, Class, and Elections: Teaching Current Events in a Polarized Time

Monday, May 6th, 4:30-6:00 pm, Register Here

Do you want to discuss the challenges of school leadership and teaching during a polarized time? UVEI is inviting members of our network and allies to join us for an online networking discussion about the challenges and opportunities related to teaching about the November presidential election and other important political topics that connect to race, class and community.  Do you have questions or knowledge to share?   How do educators effectively engage an ideologically diverse or divided community of students, families and other stakeholders?   Do you have a resource or success story to share?  Do you have a challenge you’d like to discuss with like-minded educators? This event will bring together educators from our region, UVEI faculty and members of Building Fearless Futures, a racial-justice organization working in regional schools.
