The Master of Education in School Leadership is a one-year or two-year intensive program for school leaders to enhance their professional skills and help transform their schools. It is a unique immersive and competency-based program driven by outcome and performance standards, rather than courses or exams. While the degree is largely based on structured and independent practice in a school setting, candidates also attend in person and synchronous online seminars throughout the year.
The degree is designed for UVEI Principal Intern Program candidates and graduates to advance their leadership knowledge and practice through using research-based frameworks to understand their roles in distributing leadership, developing a strong school culture, inspiring and leading change, guiding teacher learning and fostering teacher community, and establishing and sustaining their roles as instructional leaders. The degree culminates the completion and presentation of an action research project.
