Careful Planning, Dynamic Engagement

Engage in collaborative inquiry to design coherent, impactful lessons that advance student learning.

Lessons are the basic unit of teaching and are the building blocks of units. Each day with students, lessons have the potential to advance student learning in engaging and dynamic ways. In this inquiry, teachers will learn foundational skills and principles to plan aligned, engaging and coherent lessons. Practicums include designing, teaching, analyzing, and peer reviewing instructional plans and video of instruction through subject specific lesson study processes. Performance assessments of competency include a lesson plan with analysis and short video of instruction with analysis. Above and beyond these activities, you can elect to do an additional exploration of the research as it informs and improves your practice. You may also choose to participate in an additional clinical coaching cycle with conferencing and an observation to support further improvement and application.
