Title IX at UVEI

Title IX Sexual Harassment & Sexual Misconduct

Title IX is a federal law which prohibits discrimination based on sex in any educational program or activity.  Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 reads “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”

UVEI stands fundamentally opposed to any form of sexual harassment and sexual misconduct (which UVEI defines as including gender-based discrimination, sexual violence, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking) and is committed, through Title IX procedures and/or through UVEI’s Non-discrimination and Non-harrassment procedures, to promote an environment that allows candidates, faculty, and staff to be free from the intimidation and coercion that accompanies such actions.

Title IX Coordinator

UVEI has appointed a designated Title IX Coordinator to coordinate UVEI’s efforts to comply with and carry out its responsibilities under Title IX:

Name: Marie McCormick

Email: mccormick@uvei.edu

Phone: (603) 678-4888 x 105

Any person who has experienced sexual harrassment, sexual misconduct, or sexual assault under this policy is invited to connect with Marie who will coordinate support, help you to assess your options, and explain the reporting procedures to you.

You may also contact any other trusted faculty or staff member at UVEI:

(please note, UVEI faculty and staff are considered “responsible employees” and may have an obligation to take action depending on the nature of the complaint)
