Inclusive Environments to Foster Success
Learn how to foster inclusive, restorative school climates that support student well-being through relationship-building.
Effective equity-centered leaders – both school leaders and teacher leaders – cultivate an inclusive, caring, and supportive school community that promotes the academic success and well-being of each student. A restorative school climate is associated with academic achievement and engagement, school success, students’ healthy development, meaningful relationships, fair and equitable discipline systems, and teacher retention. In the Restorative School Climates inquiry cycle, candidates engage in collaborative inquiry into forging a climate that enables students to think of themselves as learners and to grow as members of a community. The overarching concepts of restorative practices and relationship building frame this inquiry. Clinical experiences in the learning strand call on participants to engage in activities that foster and advance restorative values in their school setting, while performance assessments require critical research-based analysis and written reflection.Â
Above and beyond these activities, educators can elect to do an additional exploration of research as it informs their practice. Participants may also choose to participate in an additional clinical coaching cycle with conferencing and an observation to support further improvement and application.

The upcoming seminar schedule is below. Online sessions will take place on Zoom, and in-person sessions will take place at 194 Dartmouth College Hwy, Lebanon, NH, 03766.

- Wednesday, May 5, 9:00-3:00, online
- Practicum work and independent practice continue after the final seminar. Anticipated completion date is June 27th.
