Welcome UVEI candidates! Here we hope to provide some frequently sought-after resources.
As a small graduate level program focused exclusively on the professional preparation of educators, UVEI provides candidate services through personalized advising and support adapted to the needs of our career oriented candidates. UVEI offer candidates academic and non-academic support in the following ways:
- Personalized advising: Each UVEI candidate is assigned a coach. The coach’s role is academic (evaluating progress towards the standards of competency and feedback on progress), professional (providing guidance on how to compete for appropriate employment), and personal (supporting personal growth and emotional well being). In most cases, start with your coach to get support or work through issues.
- Tiered personal or academic intervention: UVEI provides several tiers of support intended to communicate expectations and support structures for candidates who may be struggling.
- Career readiness: While UVEI does not offer job placement services, programs include elements intended to support candidate’s career readiness. For instance, programs may include preparation for resume and cover letter writing, mock interviews, opportunities for candidates to share applications, and opportunities for candidates to engage with employers directly.

Opportunities and Announcements
- The Candidate Advisory Council provides a forum for UVEI candidates to discuss and advise on matters and questions relevant to candidates and UVEI programs. The Council meets three times a year and is open to all enrolled licensure and degree candidates – it is not an elected role. UVEI believes that governance should include the voices and input of various stakeholders, including candidates, and we hope that you will consider joining and providing your input. Please contact Chris Ward, academic dean, at cward@uvei.edu for additional information or to join.
